The Future Of Coronary Angiography

Efforts to diagnose coronary heart disease, accurately and less invasively caused an amazing developement of cardiovascular imaging in recent years. Multislice computed tomographic coronary angiography as a fast and less expensive imaging modality has become a focus of interest in recent years with its high diagnostic sensitivity and specificity, which has a low complication risk and does not necessitate a hospitalization. In this review, future aspects of coronary angiography are discussed by replying questions as follows; "which improvements occur in the field of invasive coronary angiography?", "are new non-invasive cardiac imaging techniques likely to replace invasive coronary angiography in the future?", and "do hybrid imaging techniques which are available for the simultaneous assesment of coronary anatomy and myocardial function, appear promising?".Keywords: Diagnostic imaging, coronary angiography, imaging, three-dimensionalTurkiye Klinikleri J Int Med Sci 2007, 3(42):80-88
