aKardiyoloji Kliniği, Türkiye Yüksek İhtisas Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi, ANKARA Cardiovascular diseases which are commonly seen in patients with chronic renal diseases are kept responsible for an important part of mortality and morbidity in these patients. Chronic renal dysfunction is an independent risk factor for the development of coronary arterial diseases. Chronic renal disease is accepted as an equivalent of coronary arterial diseases. Cardiovascular disease is the most common cause of mortality in patients with end stage renal disease. At each stage of chronic renal disease, patients should be evaluated for cardiovascular risks; special consideration should be given for blood pressure control, lowering lipid levels, blood glucose control and appropriate medical treatment to prevent the progression of renal disease and for cardiovascular protection. Keywords: Cardiovascular diseases; chronic renal disease; lipid; blood glucoseTurkiye Klinikleri J Int Med Sci 2007, 3(33):38-41
