Obesity
Dr. Kenan Yılmaz ÖMÜRLÜa
aKardiyoloji ABD, Ankara Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi, ANKARA Coronary artery disease is demonstrated as primary cause of death in epidemiologic studies in the world. The risk factors were firstly identified for struggle of the disease. Risk group defined as metabolic syndrome contributes to the improvement of consciousness of obesity. The treatment of obesity is alone a complicated issue apart from scientific researches. The weight loss is a healthy objective. Left end-ventricular diastole volume and pressure decrease in resting state with respect to weight loss. There exists a weak relationship between hypertension and excess of weight. It is claimed that the risk factors increase when the waist/hip ratio is greater than 1.0 and 0.8 in men and women respectively. Dislipidemy, diabetes and hyperurysemy are coronary risk factors related with obesity. Although loosing weight has important role in changing coronary risk factors, its effect on mortality and morbidity of heart disease has not been clearly established. Keywords: Obesity; coronary disease; metabolic syndromeTurkiye Klinikleri J Int Med Sci 2007, 3(33):21-25
