aKardiyoloji Kliniği, İzmir Atatürk Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi, İZMİR Inflammatory cardiomyopathy is defined as myocardial inflamation associated with cardiac dysfunction. A broad array of etiologies including infections, systemic diseases, drugs and toxins have been implicated as causes of myocardial inflamation. Myocardial damage occurs due to both to direct infection and postinfectious autoimmune-mediated myocardial inflammation. The clinical presentation and clinical course of myocarditis is highly variable. Clinical presentation range in a wide array of symptomatology from asymptomatic with only ECG abnormalities to cardiogenic shock. Myocardial inflamation may improve spontaneously or may progress to ventricular dysfunction and dilatation. Keywords: Myocarditis, chagas cardiomyopthyTurkiye Klinikleri J Int Med Sci 2007, 3(24):38-46
