Exercise Stress Testing In Patients With Stable Angina Pectoris
Dr. Bilgehan KARADAĞa
aKardiyoloji AD, İstanbul Üniversitesi Cerrahpaşa Tıp Fakültesi, İSTANBUL Exercise stress testing is a reliable and widely used method of evaluating patients who have or are at risk of developing cardiovascular disease. In addition to the data from ECG changes, other significant data such as arrhythmias, heart rate, blood pressure, exercise capacity can be derived from the test to aid in patient treatment and evaluation. Exercise test is used for diagnostic and prognostic purposes and for monitoring the effects of therapeutic interventions in patients with known or suspected coronary artery disease. The sensitivity and specificity of the test is limited. Therefore the response to a positive exercise test should be interpreted carefully by taking the risk factors and pretest probability into consideration to avoid misdiagnosis and unnecessary examinations. Keywords: Exercise test; angina pectorisTurkiye Klinikleri J Int Med Sci 2007, 3(15):27-32
