Nuclear Cardiac Imaging In Stable Angina Pectoris
Dr. Zerrin YİĞİTa
aİstanbul Üniversitesi Kardiyoloji Enstitüsü, İSTANBUL Myocard perfusion scintigraphy is well recognized as a useful technique in the evaluation and management of patients with coronary artery disease. Advances in computer technology and the development of multidetector camera systems prompted the transition from planar to single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT). Not only is SPECT more accurate than planar imaging for detection of individual coronary artery stenosis, it allows accurate quantification of the extent of hypoperfused myocardium. The latter feature is critically important when one is stratifying patient risk for subsequent cardiac events. Myocard perfusion scintigraphy can be performed after treadmill exercise or pharmacologic stres. The introduction of pharmacologic stressors geartly expanded the applicability of nuclear cardiac imaging to the general population of patients with suspected or known coronary artery disease. Keywords: Angina pectoris; ischemia; exercise testTurkiye Klinikleri J Int Med Sci 2007, 3(15):19-26
