Chest Pain Differential

Chest pain is a symptom often diagnosed in daily practice including cardiac and non-cardiac etiologies. These diseases have to be differantiated from each other within history, physical examination and laboratory findings. Pain can result not only from structures in chest anatomy but from abdominal pathologies as referred pain. Many of the diseases like acute myocardial infarction, aortic dissection, massive pulmoner emboli and tension pneumothorax can be mortal. In patients admitted to hospital with chest pain, advanced investigations like echocardiography, myocardial scintigraphy and coronary angiography could be done.
