Exercise Electrocardiography And Ambulatory Event Recorders
Dr. Tunay ŞENTÜRK,a Dr. Osman Akın SERDARa
aKardiyoloji AD, Uludağ Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi, BURSA Exercise is a common physiological stress used to elicit cardiovascular abnormalities not present at rest and to determine the adequacy of cardiac function. Exercise electrocardiography is one of the most frequent noninvasive modalities used to assess patients with suspected or proven cardiovascular disease. The test is mainly used to estimate prognosis and to determine functional capacity, the likelihood and extent of coronary artery disease, and the effects of therapy.
Ambulatory electrocardiography (AECG) refers to services in an outpatient setting. AECG is used to detect, document and characterize occurrences of abnormal cardiac electrical behavior of the heart during ordinary daily activities. Because certain abnormalities may occur only during sleep or with mental, emotional, or exercise-induced changes in cardiac oxygenation or function, an ECG may need to be recorded over long periods of time. Keywords: Exercise testing, ambulatory event recorderTurkiye Klinikleri J Int Med Sci 2006, 2(33):38-45
