Echocardiography In Conduction Defects
Dr. Nursen POSTACIa
a1. Kardioloji Kliniği, İzmir Atatürk Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi, İZMİR In this chapter, we discussed the echocardiographic findings of intraventricular conduction defects and cardiac asynchronization. Several conditions result in wall motion abnormalities, unrelated to ischemia. The most commonly encountered are left bundle branch block (LBBB) and abnormal motion seen after cardiac surgery. LBBB alters the sequence of activation and hence the sequence of contraction of the left ventricle. This causes right ventricular and right septal activation before activation of the body of the left ventricle and results in a characteristic wall motion abnormality. This abnormality is often most easily appreciated with M mode echocardiography. Keywords: Left bundle branch block, wall motion abnormalities, asynchronizationTurkiye Klinikleri J Int Med Sci 2006, 2(24):65-67
