Approach To Patients With Valvular Heart Disease Undergoing Noncardiac Surgery

aKardiyoloji AD, Gaziantep Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi, GAZİANTEP Rheumatic valve disease is highly important in our contry as being widespread and devastating consequence. Rheumatic valve disease and/or complications is continuously important source of morbidity and mortality especially in adult people. One of the problematic face of such a pysical and psychological disaster in those patients is problems arising from noncardiac surgery. It can not be saying that all of these patient are given proper approach when they undergoing noncardiac surgery in routine practice. When those patients undergoing noncardiac surgery, majority of patients are given attention to only the presence or absence of ischemic heart disease. And unfortunately, most of rhematic valve disease patients are not given careful attention in view of valve disease when undergoing noncardiac surgery. The aim of the present review is attract attention of readers to peroperative assesment of patients with valvular heart disease undergoing noncardiac surgery and presentation of the basic messages for this topic.Keywords: Valve disease, noncardiac surgery, peroperative assesmentTurkiye Klinikleri J Int Med Sci 2006, 2(15):78-80
