Pregnancy And Pulmoner Hypertension
Dr. Atilla BİRSİNa
aKardiyoloji AD, Trakya Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi, EDİRNE Pulmonary hypertension, irrespective of the etiology, carries a high maternal mortality rate when associated with pregnancy. The causes of pulmonary hypertension include primary pulmonary hypertension, pulmonary vascular disease secondary to thromboembolic disease, connective tissue disorders, side effects of certain drugs and the most common which is seen in young women is congenital heart diseases with large shunts at any level which cause Eisenmenger Syndrome. In this state women should be counseled strongly not to have a pregnancy, however if it occurs they should be advised to have the pregnancy terminated. Otherwise maternal mortality rate is approksimately 30-50%.Keywords: Pregnancy, pulmonary hypertensionTurkiye Klinikleri J Int Med Sci 2005, 1(50):39-44
