Acute Rhematic Fever And Treatment In Pregnancy
Dr. Tunay ŞENTÜRK,a Dr. Sümeyye GÜLLÜLÜa
aKardiyoloji AD, Uludağ Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi, BURSA Acute rheumatic fever and rheumatic valvular disease remain prevalent in many parts of the world, and especially chronic rheumatic valvular diseases are probably the most common cause of heart disease in pregnancy. Acute rheumatic fever occurs most commonly in children, before puberty, and rarely during pregnancy. A variety of pregnancy-associated cardiovascular changes often exacerbate the signs and symptoms of valvular lesions. Acute rheumatic fever in pregnant women can cause mild valvulitis, and does not present cardiac decompensation. Pregnant women with cardiac disease should be under the close observation. Treatment of acute rhematic fever in pregnant women are similiar to nonpregnant women. Advers effects of drugs in pregnant women and on the fetus should be considered. Keywords: Acute rheumatic fever, pregnancy, treatmentTurkiye Klinikleri J Int Med Sci 2005, 1(50):12-14
