Physical Examination Of The Pregnant Women With Cardiovascular Disease, Selection Of Diagnostic Tests And Evaluation Of The Cardiovascular System
Dr. Dilek URALa
aKardiyoloji AD, Kocaeli Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi, KOCAELİ Heart disease continues to be an important cause of maternal morbidity and mortality. Physiological changes that occur during pregnancy together with preexisting cardiac pathologies may cause life threatening hemodynamic abnormalities. Prognosis depends on the type of underlying heart disease, the patient’s functional class and severity of cardiac dysfunction. Women with heart disease should be thoroughly examined and evaluated before and during pregnancy. Diagnostic examination in pregnancy should be with noninvasive techniques like ECG and echocardiography. Multidisciplinary care is essential for successful maternal and fetal outcomes. Keywords: Pregnancy, heart diseaseTurkiye Klinikleri J Int Med Sci 2005, 1(50):6-11
