Stress Echocardiography
Dr. M. Taner GÖRENa
aKardiyoloji AD, İstanbul Üniversitesi İstanbul Tıp Fakültesi, İSTANBUL Stress echocardiography has found a place as a usefull diagnostic method in cardiology clinical practice. Stress echocardiography is performed on two ways: exercise and non-exercise stress echocardiography. Exercise echocardiography is performed by treadmill and bicycle. Most common tests are dobutamin and dipyridamole stres echocardiography in non-exercise stress echocardiography. Most important aspects in stress echocardiography are obtaining sufficient images and correct interpretation. Most common clinical applications of stress echocardiography are the diagnosis of coronary heart disease, determination of prognosis of coronary heart disease, post-infarction risk stratification, investigation of myocardial viability and evaluation of valvular heart disease. Combination of real-time three-dimensional imaging, contrast myocardial perfusion imaging and strain and strain rate imaging with stress echocardiography are potential future developments. Keywords: Stress echocardiographyTurkiye Klinikleri J Int Med Sci 2005, 1(42):60-66
