Clinical usage of electrophysiologic studies increased our understanding of the genesis of cardiac arrhythmias dramatically. The mechanisms responsible for cardiac arrhythmias are generally divided into three categories: disorders of impulse formation, disorders of impulse conduction, or combinations of both.
