aKardiyoloji AD, Kocaeli Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi, KOCAELİ Cardiac dysrhythmias can run the gamut from benign and clini-cally insignificant to serious or life threating. Since the recognition of the high incidence of cardiac arrest as the mechanism of sudden cardiac death, clinicians have sought methods to predict these events. Noninvasive methods have central role in the identification of patients with life-threatening arrhythmias. Several noninvasive techniques are widely used for arrhythmia detection and risk prediction in patients with dysrhythmia, including arrhythmias and heart rate variability on 24-hour Holter electrocardiogram, the signal-averaged electrocardio-gram, microvolt T-wave alternans, QT dispersion and heart rate turbu-lence. Importance and application fields of noninvasive techniques for diagnosis of cardiac arrhythmias are summarized in this review. Keywords: Arrhythmia, noninvasive method, risk stratificationTurkiye Klinikleri J Int Med Sci 2005, 1(15):7-18
